Baby Sensory was founded in the UK by Dr Lin Day and is designed to help with all aspects of your little ones' development. Our classes are suitable for babies right from birth and all the way up to 13 months old.
We stimulate babies' senses with lights, bubbles, different textures, smells, singing and signing, puppets, books, sensory toys and much more. Classes also usually incorporate some gentle exercise for your baby, including tummy time and we give you lots of ideas to try at home too. Each class starts with our chart-topping signature song, 'Say Hello to the Sun', followed by 20 minutes of structured sensory activities. We then take a break where you and your baby can enjoy our exploratory play area. This allows free play for babies and a chance for caregivers to socialise. This is followed by another 15-20 minutes of activities. This structure reflects babies' natural play, rest, play cycle of learning. The activities change each week so there is always something new to look forward to. The class lasts around 60 minutes.
The content of each class remains more or less the same for all age groups but will be delivered slightly differently depending on the age category for the class.
Depending on location, classes may be separated by age group as follows:
0 to 6 months
This class is a perfect way to start your journey with Baby Sensory. The vibe is relaxed and sociable. We often see wonderful friendships forming in the small baby groups and these classes have proven benefits for mothers in particular, by helping to ease worries, giving a supportive space to chat, share and laugh together which in turn lowers your chances of PND.
Class numbers are kept smaller - usually no more than 12 per class. All activities are delivered in a developmentally appropriate way, ensuring that even the smallest babies can benefit fully. We explain every activity so you always know which area of your baby's development we're working on and how they're benefiting. If your baby is under three months old we would always recommend joining this age group if possible. Busier classes with mobile babies can be tiring for very young babies and we want to ensure they get the most out of each class. This class is popular with first time parents and is a great way to start building your 'village'! Sleepy babies with no fixed routine are very welcome - if it’s good for you to get out of the house, it's good for them too.
5 to 13 months
This class perfect for busy babies who are really starting to engage with the world around them. They may be rolling, crawling or even walking! Class sizes are a max of 15-18 depending on the venue. The class is delivered with much more contrast in energy to the younger group, from exciting and vibrant to quiet and calm. Every activity is carefully planned and tailored to each developmental stage so you'll always know why we're doing them. We welcome curiosity so if you have a baby who wants to get stuck into everything, this is the class for you!
0-13 months
The mixed age class offers the same experience as the 5 to 13 month class in terms of energy and vibe. However, additional information on positioning and development will be offered in order to cover the full age range. This class is usually popular with parents of more than one child who are looking to fit in classes around their family schedule. Very young babies who have older siblings usually manage well with the busy feel to this type of class.
You don't need to bring anything to class with you except a blanket for your baby to sit or lay on.
Baby Sensory was voted as Ireland's 'Best Baby Class' at the 2019, 2020 and 2022 Mums and Tots awards. We also recently received the gold medal in the Baby & Toddler class category at the 2024 Pregnancy and Baby Fair awards.
